About
Inna ~ The Barefoot Artist
Like many of you, Covid 19 dominated our life for nearly two years. The small business I worked for over ten years, closed its doors leaving me out of a job. With all the restrictions it was difficult to find another job. With time on my hands, like most of you, I surfed the Internet looking for something to pass the time. I had always decorated cakes so I was looking to create something that lasted longer than a cake.
From my Internet explorations I started painting and experimenting with various materials and techniques, canvas, second hand plates, bottles, vases etc. Soon I realized I was spending a lot of money on the media. Looking around the house I realized we had all these recyclable vintage LP’s; so I began applying my newly learned techniques to them.
We were victims of Hurricane Harvey in September of 2017, forcing us out of our house and destroying anything left on the floor. In our hurry to save our possessions by placing them up on couches, countertops and tables we forgot about the vintage record collection stored in the front bedroom closet.
Once remembered, it was too late. The covers on 100 or so were ruined. Flooding did not impact their playability, just their value. We could not part with them so we continued to store them & occasionally playing a few. We searched for a way to dispose of them that was environmentally safe such as donating, giving them away to folks, even the local recycle center won’t take them but we were determined to keep them from the landfill. Since the covers were destroyed no one wanted them. In our effort to declutter we recycled the covers & consolidated the LP’s into one box. Out of all of this came my new designs on old collectables!
The work displayed on this web site is the results of my repurposing.
